Cabana’s Beach Bar on Fort Myers Beach Celebrates Grand Re-Opening

Cabana's Beach Bar Fort Myers

The past year has been a busy one for our team at Cabana’s Beach Bar and Grille on Fort Myers Beach. To celebrate the completion of extensive renovations including the addition of a beach seating area for service directly on the sand, Cabana’s has teamed with Wicked Dolphin Rum to throw a special Grand Re-Opening event, Cirque du Cabana’s.

Join us on Saturday, April 5th for Cirque du Cabana’s, featuring an incredible beachside showcase of fire-performers, stilt walkers, and aerial dancers, and other extraordinary entertainers. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. In addition to the full liquor bar, there will be Wicked Rum tastings and a Taste Of DiamondHead, offering $3-$5 tapas.

“We would like to welcome everyone looking for a relaxing Caribbean atmosphere, right on the soft white sand of Fort Myers beach, where you can indulge in your favorite libation and choose from a variety of sandwiches, salads or lighter fare. Cabana’s has become the place to be for a quick stop while walking the beach, a destination for people looking to enjoy local musicians or to catch one of southwest Florida’s beautiful sunsets. We are excited to celebrate the completion of recent renovations, and hopefully see some new faces at the event,” said Neil Hopgood, General Manager of DiamondHead Beach Resort and Spa.

Cabana’s Beach Bar & Grille is located at the landmark DiamondHead Resort. Newly renovated and expanded, Cabana’s now offers added seating directly on the beach, so patrons can enjoy a refreshing cocktail or casual meal with their toes in the sand.

Come enjoy the grand re-opening celebration of Cabana’s Beach Bar and Grille, located at DiamondHead Beach Resort and Spa! Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 5th at 5pm for Cirque de Cabana’s!

Replica of Magellan’s Ship Lands on Fort Myers Beach

Magellan's Ship

The National Air, Sea and Space Foundation is launching the Nao Victoria Experience Tall Ship Event in Fort Myers Beach on February 13th 2014. Fort Myers Beach will be the first stop in a nationwide tour for the 16th century-era Nao.

The Original Nao Victoria was one of five ships given to Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan to sail around the world. Magellan, along with 245 other men, set sail from Spain in 1519. The historic voyage traveled over 32,000 miles, ending three years later with only 18 of the original crew returning on the Nao Victoria. Magellan was killed in the Philippines, never fully completing the circumnavigation.

From 2004-2006, The Nao Victoria replica retraced some of Magellan’s footsteps while sailing around the world using only 16th century navigation technology.

The Nao Victoria is an exact replica of Ferdinand Magellan’s history-making ship and will be open to the public for tours. The Nao will be docked at Snug Harbor Marina near Nervous Nellie’s Waterfront Restaurant from February 13 to March 17 and will be open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm for the public to tour.

The Nao Victoria will be arriving in grand fashion at Nervous Nellie’s at noon on February 12, 2014. Tickets are available for purchase in advance at www.tallshipevent.com.

New Year’s Eve Events for Southwest Florida

southwest Florida New Year's Eve

New Year’s Eve 2013 in Southwest Florida includes events, parties, fireworks and even snow! With so much going on, choosing what to do is going to be a difficult task for sure. Plenty of bars and restaurants will be hosting their own New Year’s Eve events, but if you’re in the mood for something special, here is a list of area events that will ring in the New Year in grand fashion.

Fort Myers Beach New Year’s Eve

Come celebrate the birthday of the Town of Fort Myers Beach and New Year’s Eve at Time Square. The town’s 17th annual birthday party takes place from 1pm to 3pm with free live music, brownies, and cupcakes. More live music kicks in at 7pm to start the New Year’s celebration, which culminates with fireworks from the pier as well as the ball drop.

Be aware the bridge will be closed ONLY to oncoming traffic from midnight to 1:30am during the fireworks.

If you are in Southwest Florida for New Year’s Eve, have a great time enjoying the events and the warm Florida weather. We invite you stay at one of our six area hotels and resorts so you can be close to these wonderful New Year’s Eve events. Have a great 2014 and we hope to see you soon!

Naples New Year’s Eve Events

Celebrate the New Year Naples style with an evening of music, fun, fireworks and even snow! Third Street South comes alive to welcome 2014. The fireworks display will take place at the Naples Pier and starts at 7:30pm, leaving plenty of time for an early dinner before or a more elegant affair afterwards. And the earlier timing allows children a chance to partake in the celebration.

There will be live music at Fleischmann Courtyard and at many of the open-air restaurants in the Third Street South area.

Look for the snow to fall around 8:15pm. I know a lot of people come to Naples to escape the snow up north, but they all look forward to this time of the year just so they can watch it “snow” in downtown Naples. It might not be completely real, but the effect is beautiful and definitely something worth seeing!

Downtown Fort Myers New Year’s Eve

Presented by the River District Alliance, the annual Fort Myers New Year’s Eve Downtown Countdown helps tens of thousands of local revelers ring in the New Year in style. The 17th annual event starts at 8pm with live musical acts on multiple stages, a craft beer garden, and much more. A Kids Zone will feature bounce houses, ball pits, an obstacle course, giant slides, a rock climbing wall, and balloon typhoon.

As midnight approaches, the main stage will feature a countdown and a New Year’s Eve ball drop. When the clock strikes midnight a dazzling fireworks display will light up the sky over the Caloosahatchee River. The bands and DJs play long after the display, entertaining crowds until as late as 2am.
